Community Guidelines
The Beyond Hand to Mouth Forum is a private, members-only space where nonprofit executives, finance staff, board members and readers of Beyond Hand to Mouth can exchange ideas about managing money in mission-driven organizations. These guidelines keep the conversation useful, candid and respectful.
Who can join
Membership is free. Register with your real name and a working email address. Forum content is visible only to signed-in members and is not indexed by search engines.
How we expect members to participate
- Be respectful. Disagree with ideas, not people. No personal attacks, harassment or discriminatory language.
- Protect confidential information. Do not post donor names, employee or client information, account numbers, or anything your organization would not want shared. Anonymize examples.
- Stay on topic. Keep posts related to nonprofit finance, governance and leadership.
- No solicitation. Do not advertise products or services, recruit clients or post affiliate links. Occasional mention of a useful resource is welcome.
- Respect intellectual property. Share only material you have the right to share, and credit your sources.
Moderation
A new member’s first few posts are reviewed before they appear. We may edit, hold or remove any post, and suspend or remove any member, at our discretion. To report a post, use the report link beneath it or contact us.
Not professional advice
Posts reflect the views of the individual members who write them. Nothing in the forum, including posts by Beyond Hand to Mouth or Nick Prassas, is legal, accounting, tax, investment or other professional advice, and no advisory or client relationship is created by participating. Consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you read here.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give Beyond Hand to Mouth permission to display it in the forum. You can edit or delete your own posts for a short time after posting; after that, contact us to request removal.
Changes
We may update these guidelines from time to time. Continuing to use the forum means you accept the current version.
