Welcome to the site.

Beyond Hand to Mouth was created to expand upon the topics discussed in the book: addressing the financial issues and difficulties facing every nonprofit organization, with tactical, actionable advice and case studies.

As a blunt and unvarnished perspective on money and finance, we must inevitably spend time looking at failure – why some organizations never seem to get out of that financial rut. Failure is not the most uplifting topic, but often the most instructional.  The stick is a more poignant teacher than the carrot.  Our mistakes, our misconceptions, and worst of all, our best intentions, are often and unwittingly our undoing.

We will look at case studies and best practices of successful organizations and individuals – the problems they faced, the diagnosis and attempted solutions, the false starts, the lessons learned.   We will implement podcasts in the upcoming months, for those who find listening more convenient.
